In Spring

Sanguinaria canadensis (Bloodroot), found on my walk yesterday.

In spring my heart bursts

Like the buds on every tree

It’s as if I forgot I was dormant

Or supposed to be

Part of me had fallen asleep

Yet I ignored and kept pushing

But suddenly

The morning breeze feels warm

Little green nodules are sprouting

My entire being responds in eruption

Energy coursing through every thing

All around we wake up

The loons are singing their tune

I wish this time, these feelings, to never leave

Yet I know the cycle will repeat all too soon
