What a brave, and in so many ways, utterly messed-up world we live in these days. With the societally-unasked-for yet shall-be-imposed-by-the-tech-bros-regardless intrusion of AI into nearly every facet of our existence, it makes for a strange, strange existence indeed.

As has quickly become obvious, even here on Medium, with its recent struggles with AI-generated stories and the absurd inundation of AI-generated imagery in human-generated stories, there are those who heartily embrace our new AI overlords, and those who will resist them to their dying breath, (which, depending on how you view AI’s intentions, may come sooner than both camps think).

And among those in the former camp, what an odd assortment those campers make. The most recent addition to their club? — parents of victims of the Parkland mass shooting.

As a recent ABC News article stated:

Joaquin “Guac” Oliver died in the 2018 Parkland, Florida, high school massacre, but federal lawmakers who oppose tighter gun regulations began getting phone calls in his voice on Wednesday, lambasting them for their position.

The families of Oliver and five others killed with guns are using artificial intelligence…
