An echo of my Dad

I blog A LOT and have made surprisingly firm connections with sooo many other bloggers. It’s incredible the ways we can care for people over the internet, right?

One of my favourite bloggers, "E" is grieving the loss of her Mom as today is her Mom’s 92nd birthday.

I wanted to reach out in love and as I was typing my response to E, tears were cascading down my face because losing a parent is absolutely devastating 💔

The day my Dad died is the worst day of my life.

I wanted to include a bit of my reply to "E" below...for anyone else who's grieving the loss of someone they love.

"E, I really believe that our parents are woven into the grainy fabric of who WE are. I didn't realise how much I was like my Dad in so many aspects until he was suddenly torn from us all. I have Dad's humour, delight in annoying those I love, admiration for both a good pie AND an unsung hero. I think when someone meets me, they're also meeting my Dad because so much of who I am is wrapped intrinsically in who he was...so I think I've met your Mom tonight...someone sweet, caring, patient, gentle...someone who would make others feel seen and heard. I like her, you know"

Crying now. This is so f**king painful 😭

I'm hoping through meeting me, people will see glimpses of my amazing, funny, creative, silly, noisy, annoying, comforting, incredible Dad.

I believe through YOU, we'll meet the person you loved and lost, too.
