Everything, everywhere, all at once… and more

I recently came across an individual, an ordinary sort, who described themselves as a Noble Trickster (NT).

I ask them what that meant. They responded that there is no way to formally define who or what the NT is, other than to say that they live in a number of distinct realities simultaneously, and have the ability through unique skill-sets — waking hypnosis, sleight of hand magic, and sleight of mind combined with many other “general stealth skills” — to manipulate and influence others in any one of these realities. They are called “Noble Tricksters” because they have the ability to specifically, and skillfully apply their trickster qualities to create more love and compassion in the world. This is what makes them noble rather than rogue or evil.

Tricksters are all around us, and in the end it is the Noble Trickster that keeps the other types of trickster at bay, particularly those rogue tricksters who may be motivated by malice or evil intent. At best, the NT can be described as a mystery, wrapped in an enigma. They present themselves as a riddle while observing life as if it is a chess game played between a shaman and a witch doctor in a lucid dream. To a logical and scientific mind the NT is a black swan, creating butterfly effects, through counterintuitive reasoning, and fuzzy logic.

Some tricksters are evil, selfish, and malicious, creating havoc wherever they happen to be. They are pranksters, impersonators, hoaxers, and fraudsters. Unlike these rogue tricksters the NT can see what common people need and seek to bring joy and love to these individuals. Both rogue, and noble tricksters can be highly manipulative but it is the later that can move the “chess pieces” in ordinary reality around so that the world becomes a better place.

There is no license, certification, degree, or organization one can join become a trickster — whether rogue or noble. One need not believe in God, be a metaphysician or the possessor of esoteric skills. One need only have an extremely unique way of understanding and interacting with the world. A way that is so unique as to both, create and enter a reality unknown to most of us ordinary folk. Tricksters do this in a manner that influences and affects others in ways that common people may not understand or even notice.

This is the first in a series about a how the NT becomes who they are and how they do what they do.

Maybe, just maybe… you are a noble trickster waiting to crawl out of your cocoon so that you may spread your wings and fly?

If you were to meet any trickster at this moment there is a good chance they might ask you, “How do you know you are not a trickster and how do you know that what you are experiencing right now isn’t just a dream?”

In the study of mythology, folklore and religion, a trickster is a god, goddess, spirit, man, woman, or anthropomorphic animal who exhibits a great degree of intellect or secret knowledge, and uses it to play tricks on others or otherwise disobey normal rules and conventional behavior. The trickster may be evil or noble and how they appear in daily life need not be confined to mythology or the study of folklore and religion. Many members of formal orthodox religions think tricksters are somehow connected to the devil or Satan. If there is such a thing as the devil, this may be an accurate assessment, on the other hand a trickster may actually be an angel who brings us to goodness while blocking evil from our life. The thing is that tricksters do not like to be recognized as devils or angels. They just are! As for that devil idea, keep in mind of what is said in the movie The Usual Suspects, “the greatest trick the devil ever did was convincing the world that he doesn’t exist”. In such a reality it the angels who may save us from the devil within ourselves. If you are a student of esoterica and metaphysics don’t make the common error in assuming that the trickster survives through supernatural abilities or through some awareness of divine intention. If there even is such a things as a supernatural or metaphysical reality, the trickster is generally not concerned with either, though they are not immune to creating the impression that that is what is taking place. More than anything the trickster exists in a multiverse, shifting reality and has the ability through various tools to influence others — often without these individuals even being aware that a trickster has manipulated their sense of time and space.

In addition to this, the trickster has the ability to act as a catalyst to transform environments and even the lives of individuals that they come in contact with.

Of course, unlike the mythological trickster, the modern NT is neither malicious in intent nor does he/she/it break the rules of the gods or nature. The most skilled tricksters are cunning and enjoy appearing the fool. They do this while also having the ability to produce humor even in the most inopportune times. They even may have people laughing at a funeral or when someone is dying in a hospital bed.

Often the trickster will appear as a cultural hero, for by doing so they can more easily influence ordinary thinkers. The NT role in the world is to play tricks and games and by doing so raise awareness and act as an equalizer, through clowning, or jestering. Often their behavior may seem immoral by conventional standards. Tricksters drawn to evil and dysfunctional disruption — Rogue Tricksters (RT) — on the other hand, often behave in ways that are designed to cheat other people, and gain material and social advantages these tricksters are not entitled to. These social rascals are driven by their own interests, enthusiasms, and demons.

The developmental benchmarks of Homo sapiens based on three things: curiosity, communication, and an introspectively-based reciprocal altruism. It is by manipulating these developmental benchmarks that the RT does their dirty-work,

The RT has no interest in introspection and even less of an interest in reciprocal altruism. They are concerned for the most part with their own wants, and amusement — usually motivated by short term gratification.
