…as yet

I just searched for Metverse at Unsplash and I had 55 search results. Fifty-five. That’s it.

It tells me one of two things:

  1. The Metaverse is not very popular in Web 2
  2. all the conversations on the Metaverse are happening elsewhere, and I am not even aware of it

When I bought Robucks for my daughter two years ago, I may have facilitated the first NFT-like purchase over a normal credit card.

I have been at the cutting edge of enterprise technology for a long time now — but the Metaverse is yet to intrigue me. Here are the reasons:

  1. I may be plainly getting old
  2. I have never been an active gamer; and one needs to be used to immersive experiences to get attracted to the Metaverse
  3. I am yet to see real-world value creation in the Metaverse that I can explain to my mum
  4. As a photographer, I am a bit too fascinated by the beauty of the real world that I find the Metaverse not matching up as yet — even on its best of days.
  5. Web 2 gave me stuff for free, making me the product in the process. Web 3 allows me to buy branded merchandise a bit too early — and I have not lowered my trust bars as yet
  6. I am still learning about Web 3, Crypto. The realm of “I do not know what I do not know” space is vast and enormous. As I conquer that space, little by little, I am sure to see value creation
