Abortion was decriminalized in Queensland because the people demanded it. Women and allies fought tirelessly to ensure reproductive healthcare was no longer a crime, securing a victory against years of misogynistic and religious control. This wasn’t a concession from those in power; it was a hard-earned achievement.
Now, you are trying to roll back that progress with your regressive stance, hiding behind “traditional values” to justify policies that dehumanize women and deny them basic human rights. These views are part of a system that treats women as less than equals, relegating them to a status of mere incubators rather than autonomous individuals.
As a man, a politician, and someone who benefits from a legacy of power, you are in no position to dictate what women in Queensland can and cannot do with their own bodies.
