You all know I’m a jesus-person, so this came up when I was thinking about this concept of jesus being purchased for adoption. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I’m pretty sure we’re all on the same page that Jesus is 100% human. And I also think it’s really important that we get it into our heads that no one was buying or selling Jesus in a market, that’s a pretty outdated idea.

But, I do think it’s interesting to ponder. Jesus was born and lived in a particular place and time, and, like every person who has ever lived, his life was shaped by the places and people he came in contact with. That’s why Jesus’ ministry and teaching was focused in the places he lived. I believe that Jesus’ relationship with God was shaped by his relationship with others.

If Jesus was purchased for adoption, I’d love to know where he was purchased from and where he was adopted to.

It seems like this might be a better way to describe the relationship between God and Jesus.

Jesus was purchased for adoption at the temple in Jerusalem. That’s where they bought and sold animals for sacrifice, where the temple guards were stationed, and where the priests were trained to do the work. In the same place, they made sacrifices and practiced animal slaughter. I don’t know how they did it, but they did. Another possibility is that Jesus was purchased for adoption in Bethlehem. The Bible says that his birth was the fulfillment of prophecy and that a census would take place in Israel. It would make sense that they were in the right place at the right time.

Finally, it’s possible that Jesus was purchased for adoption at the Jordan River. The River of Reeds, as it’s called, is a major river that flows from the Dead Sea into the Mediterranean Sea. The river starts out in a lake with lots of lush vegetation and ends up in the sea with a strip of sand. It’s the river Jesus crossed on the way to Jericho. As the story goes, Jesus was in the river, “trying to get across.” I wonder if this is a metaphor for his life, and that he was attempting to cross from one side to the other. Or maybe Jesus just was hanging out at the river, waiting for something to happen.

Who knows?
