Good morning all✌️

Anthony Tumbiolo and Mike Saloio from Jakt here.

First off, we’d like to say THANK YOU. At some point, each of you crossed our paths and made a positive impact on our lives and careers. We hope you don’t mind being included on our first company email (and you can always unsubscribe here.) But we hope you stick around! We’re excited to have you along for the ride and share with you the new Jakt.

Each week we’ll be sending out a newsletter with the three things we’ve been talking about, what we’ve been writing and upcoming events (stay tuned!).

Thoughts

These are things we’ve been thinking about this week.

1. The next-next thing in notifications.

The other day we ordered Seamless and got FIVE notifications for the same food order. Really?

Somewhere along the way we got caught up in notification mayhem. The average iPhone has 26 installed apps, each app having three to four push options excluding SMS/email. (Twitter and Instagram have 14 push options each).

If the next thing in notifications is simpler settings like Slack, the next-next thing could be no alerts at all. (Spooky!). We’re interested in taking back control and would love to hear any ideas you have. Time Well Spent is one movement we’ve been following.

2. It’s all in the metrics.

“Hey, do you know a good growth marketing person? We’re looking for someone who can run growth experiments to identify the best user acquisition channels, design+code, manage ad campaigns, improve conversion rates, and is very analytical and metric driven too.”

We hear this from founders often and it’s a tough hire given the multiple distinct skill sets necessary. We’re big believers that data trumps all and our advice is to focus on the metrics. You can’t manage what you can’t track and measure and you might be surprised at what’s working and what’s not.

Have this unique skill set? Let us know, several of our partners are looking for full-time hires. And if you need growth marketing help, we consult companies in this area all the time and we’re happy to chat.

3. Steph got a Twitter! Lol…

Our amazing UX designer Stephanie Golik published a great blog post a few weeks back. We were so excited to Tweet at her, only to find some strange college-esque Tweets from 2014 and an outdated profile pic.
Real talk — check out her very well-read piece on Medium and show her some love on Twitter!
