“Do good work fast” or “Do good, work fast”

About 9 years ago, I had lunch with Jeff Faulkner and I asked him what tips he would give someone starting an agency (based on his success with ParisFrance and Deepplay). One of his responses was, “do good work fast,” which I had always interpreted as “do the best work you can in the quickest way possible.” But this morning a thought struck me — what if he actually meant “do good, work fast”? That comma (maybe should be a semicolon?) makes a huge difference.

“Do good” — Make the world a better place and create meaning for people.

“Work fast” — Do good as quickly as possible because we only have so much time in this world and we need to make the most of it.

And while I think “do good work fast” and “do good, work fast” can each have relevance, I’m leaning towards the comma now.
