5 key take aways from Google IO2014
I am not a great fan of these developer conferences that are going around. But being a fan of Google, I followed Google’s annual developer conference- Google IO2014.
Here are the key take aways that I have compiled from what little I understood from the conference.
Google’s vision of ‘Internet of things’(IoT) was well emphasized in their conference. Its about time that the outcomes show up. Google wants to be everywhere: In your home, your car and even on your wrist.
“I think technology is changing people’s lives a lot, and we’re feeling it.”
— Larry Page
Google launched a new version of its OS “Android L”. Google’s OS will now find place in Android TV, smart watch, automobile, home appliances and a brand new health kit- Google Fit.
Starting from start of 2015, you will be seeing Google more often in your life than ever. You can now, from your portable Android device control the remote devices from a simple voice over command.
What is more interesting, is to see if Google will be able to overcome its Achilles’ heel. For a company, whose future depends on people voluntarily handing over their information for handy online services: Google’s ambitions now stand as its biggest hurdle.
Is Google, in its globe-spanning reach, trying to do things that is making it creepy instead of helpful?
