I like to chat with news websites
Quartz new iPhone app is basically that
When Facebook bought WhatsApp for $ 19,000,000,000, they knew we spend hell lot of time messaging our friends. Something is charming about this instant interaction we get there. You tweet something, and almost no one replies to it nowadays. You post something on Facebook and few of your friends comment on and like it. You write something on WhatsApp and everyone replies, unless it is too lame, or you’re freindzoned or something.
Seems that Quartz understood this very well when they designed their new app. Till yesterday, a news app to me was just a website packaged into a mobile app, where you see articles. Most of the time, they are irrelevant news to you, so you just read the headline and skip without reading through. Quartz app, unlike this, is very different. Actually, the moment I opened it, I started to take screenshots as it was nothing like anything else I’ve seen before.

See, that’s what I am talking about. It greets you like any friend of yours on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger. It has a conversation with you, but rather than letting you type, your responses are sort of readily packaged for you.

Sometimes you have one option, some other times, you have more than option to chose your response from.

Now, the news are not articles. We aren’t chatting with bots here, or those friends who just post links like bots. They are just like what people do in chat, paragraphs, maybe a video or a gif, or a smily face.

Notice small blue arrow to the right of the messages. Well, in case you want to visit the actual source of the new/message.
One other thing, not everything is from Quartz. Come on. Some bits are from BBC, others from IMDB, etc. You are chatting with a friend, remember, not a news website.

Well, ads do happen sometimes ^_^
However, they know if it is morning already, and wish you a good morning.

And if the news is a bot a video game, why not show an animated gif from it.
Neat! Perfect! I like it.
