Timing through Graha’s Nakshatra Pada Transits: Part 7: The fateful connections

Saturn through its journey around the zodiac, establishes connections with various bodies such as (1) the Bhava lords, (2) the Bhava Karakas and (3) The cusps of the Bhavas (Bhavamadhya). When it transits very close to their degrees, either through their Rasis, or their trines, it becomes extremely capable of bestowing results pertaining to that Bhava.

While the results of Shani’s conjunctions with the mentioned 3 things are portentous of evil, that of Guru is extremely auspicious. The transit of Rahu should be treated similar to Shani i.e., bestowing evil results.

When a connection can be said a real close connection? When Shani (or Guru, Rahu) moves through the same nakshatra pada (as that of the Graha or bhavamadhya under consideration). For instance, when Surya occupies Magha Nakshatra 3rd pada, Shani will be said to establish close connection if it moves through a Nakshatra that is in Trikona to Magha Nakshatra, such as Moola or Ashvini, and at the same time passes through the 3rd pada, it triggers a significant event pertaining to Surya. It could in the area of Surya natural or functional significations (bhava ownership).

Practical Method to find out the close connections

Lets take an example of Shani, which is going to establish close connection with a Graha (or Bhava lord).

  1. Determine the grahas in Trine to Shani the Rasi Chart.
  2. Determine whether Shani conjoins the Graha in the same Navamsa, in teh Navamsa chart.

For instance, when Surya is in Magha 3rd Pada in Simha Rasi, Shani will have close connection with Surya, when (1) Shani transits in Mesha, Simha or Dhanu (i.e., Trine to Simha Rasi) and (2) Shani conjoins with Surya in the Navamsa. In this case, Since Surya is in Mithuna Navamsa (mapped to Magha-3), Shani’s Navamsa transit through Mithuna, while being in Mesha-Simha-Dhanu Rasi, will cause the close connection.

Essentially what it means is that, during the close contact with a Graha, Shani essentially moves through the nakshatra of the same Nakshatra lord and the same pada. In our example, since Surya occupies Ketu-3 Nakshatra Pada, the mentioned transit of Shani will cause it to be in Ketu-3, although in a different sign (in the trine to Surya).

This is actually very simple, look at the Trines of Shani, Guru and Rahu in the Rasi chart. Identify any graha occupying the Trine. When Shani conjoins that graha in the Navamsa chart, it gets into the close connection (having span of 3deg 20’ or 1 nakshatra pada).

Identifying the close connection with Bhavamadhya

The Bhavamadhyas always fall in a Kendra to the Navamsa Lagna.

  1. Bhavamadhyas of 1–5–9: Dharma Trikona: Navamsa Lagna
  2. Bhavamadhyas of 2–6–10: Artha Trikona: 10th from Navamsa Lagna
  3. Bhavamadhyas of 3–7–11: Kama Trikona: 7th from Navamsa Lagna
  4. Bhavamadhyas of 4–8–12: Moksha Trikona: 4th from Navamsa Lagna

Thus, when Shani transits through a Bhava in a particular Rasi, and at the same time it transits through the Navamsa containing the Bhavamadhya, it establishes connection with it. For instance, when Shani transits through either of 4th, 8th or 12th house and in the Navamsa chart, be in 4th from the Navamsa Lagna, it is said to be in close connection with the said bhavas.

Illustration: Rise of National Leaders

Let us observe the role played by the three Grahas Shani, Rahu and Guru in the rise of some political leaders.

1.Indira Gandhi

  • Shani entered Mesha Navamsa in Kumbha Rasi on 12th Jan 1966, which catapulted her to power, becoming an interim Prime Minister, after the death of Lal Bahadur Shastri.
  • Kumbha is the 8th house and its trines are 4–8–12. In the Mesha Navamsa, Shani is in the 2nd house, hence, it is not in conjunction of the 4–8–12 Bhavamadhyas.
  • The Grahas occupying trine to Kumbha Rasi is only Ketu. Shani was not transiting Ketu’s Navamsa. So, certainly Ketu was not in close conjunction with Ketu either.
  • Rahu entered Simha Navamsa in Vrsha Rasi. The grahas in trine are Guru and Chandra. In the Navamsa none of them are occupying Simha Navamsa. Hence Rahu didn’t closely conjoin any natal planet.
  • Vrsha Rasi falls in the 11th house, hence the houses that are involved are 3–7–11, the Kama Trikona. In the Navamsa, the Kama trikona falls in the 7th house in Kanya Navamsa. So Rahu can be said to be pretty close to the cusp of Kama Navamsa.
  • Guru entered Kanya Navamsa of Vrsha Rasi on 10th Jan 1966. The house that could be affected by Guru are the Kama-Trikona, 3–7–11. In the Navamsa, Guru occupied the 11th house in Kanya, indicating that only Guru conjoined the Bhava madhya of the Bhava it was transiting, thus activating the entire Kama Trikona.
  • During her victory in the Indian General Election in Feb 1967, Shani was transiting Meena Rasi — Simha Navamsa, Rahu was transiting Mesha Rasi — Kanya Navamsa, and Guru was transiting Karka Rasi and Navamsa.
  • During this time, Shani was transiting very close to Surya, the royal graha, fulfilling the karma for which she was born.
  • Rahu was in trine to Natal Rahu, Shukra and Mangal, but was not transiting close to them.
  • Guru transited on the Lagna on the natal Shani and Navamsa Rahu and Budha-Surya in the trine, but not close to any of them. It was however just one Navamsa away from Surya and conjoined Surya closely on 29th April when it moved to Simha Navamsa.
  • Here, we can infer that Shani was instrumental in bring her the power destined to her. Shani in Karka Lagna is said to be a strong combination of power.

2.Rajiv Gandhi

  • When Rajiv Gandhi came to power in October 1984 after the death of Indira Gandhi, (1) Shani was transiting Tula Rasi-Vrsha Navamsa (2) Rahu was transiting Vrsha Rasi — Kumbha Navamsa, and (3) Guru was transiting Dhanu Rasi — Simha Navamsa.
  • Shani was not transiting on the cusp of 3rd Bhava, also not over Natal Shani.
  • Rahu was also not transiting on the cusp of 10th Bhava, or Mangal or Ketu.
  • Guru was actually transiting upon the cusp of Lagna or the Dharma Trikona (1–5–9). This activated the host of grahas occupying the Lagna.
  • When the General election happened in Dec 1984, (1) Shani moved into Vrschika Rasi — Simha Navamsa, (2) Rahu into Makara Navamsa of Vrsha Rasi and (3) Guru in the Dhanu Navamsa of Dhanu Rasi.
  • Shani didn’t conjoin the Bhavamadhya (of 4th), or any graha Although it was close to natal Rahu. Rahu also didn’t conjoin the Bhavamadhya (of 6th), or any graha. Although it was close to natal Budha. So none of them brought him into power.
  • Guru conjoined very closely with Budha, the natal 2nd and 11th lord occupying the Lagna. Thus Budha was instrumental in bring him to the power, after the general election.
