Will Robots Take Over Human Jobs?

According to the research done by the World Economic Forum, the 4th Industrial Revolution that is underway, could lead to “a net employment impact of more than 5.1 million jobs lost.” Marked by advancements in robotics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, 3D printing, genetics, machinery etc., the revolution will cause a massive transformation in the global workforce over the next few years.

By 2020, most jobs that were done exclusively by humans only a few years ago will be replaced by robots, machines, software, AI etc. While the advancements in technology have made it easier to complete tasks more efficiently, they have rendered human input obsolete. For example, bookkeepers and accountants are being replaced by software and AI, and by 2030, they will become almost extinct.

However, the technological revolution will also lead to the creation of and growth in jobs and shifts in organizational structures over the next decade. With the threat of automation and computerization of jobs, individuals will be required to develop certain skills to retain a chance at employment in the competitive job market.
