We got our “Graceland Too” moment after all.

When Phoebe Bridgers announced her North America tour in 2022, I remember running down the stairs, my old Chromebook in hand, and showing my mom the Ticketmaster page I’d already pulled up.

“Please mom,” I said, nearly ready to beg on my hands and knees. She said yes, of course, because that’s just the kind of person she is. We got four tickets: one for her, one for my brother, one for me, and another for a friend of mine.

We waited impatiently, and listened to Phoebe’s songs in the car. Our personal favorite became “Graceland Too.”

A few weeks before the concert, something came up, and she couldn’t go. I was upset; she was who I wanted to be with, but I understood that it’s just the way things go. Instead, my dad was the one who took us, which was okay, but I knew how excited she was.

The night was awesome. My friend and I was up close to the stage and had a perfect view. It was an outdoor concert, and the night was clear and warm. It really was perfect, except for the fact that the person who originally got the tickets for me and shared my love of the music wasn’t there.
