I have always despised country music.

Where I’m from, we don’t have anything that sounds like it. Cowboy hats, pickup trucks, beer, and a weird patriotism that is lost in Western Europe: that is what we think of when we hear of country music.

The thing is, I never even gave country music a chance. I had heard a couple of tracks my brother sent me from his year abroad in North Carolina, but that was enough to despise it.

That was until I discovered Noah Kahan.

Who is Noah Kahan?

Noah Kahan is an American singer-songwriter, originally from Strafford, Vermont, which often serves as the muse for his music. His breakthrough single, “Hurt Somebody,” came out in 2017, followed by his debut album, Busyhead, in 2019. Up until 2022, Kahan wasn’t a household name, but that quickly changed with the release of Stick Season, which led to his nomination in 2023 for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist. That same year, Kahan released a deluxe version of the album titled Stick Season (We’ll All Be Here Forever), featuring seven additional tracks. And, OH MY, God Bless America!
