Three is an experiment in publishing, to demonstrate what’s possible on Medium. The exploration began with the discovery of a URL and a username that had not been taken on Twitter, Facebook and Medium (but unfortunately already taken on Google): threeprogress.

Subtractive colors: cyan, magenta, yellow
Additive colors: red, green, blue

The brand has been created using three subtractive (cyan, magenta, yellow) and additive colors (red, green, blue) using three typefaces: Avenir Next, Bodoni 72, and Bell Gothic.

The tagline, “progress and the evolution of ideas,” is set using Fira Sans, Mozilla’s open source type family.

This visual language can be seen to represent layers of meaning hidden within simple concepts that together create a complex, mysterious, and beautiful reality.

Why do this? Well, from a designer’s point of view, it is necessary for creatives to pay attention to signs, patterns, and symbols, and the number three seems to be a recurring pattern in the physical world and in the abstract world of ideas. It is natural for creatives to be curious about the concept of progress, the creative process and the evolution of ideas. So, there you go.

Three: Progress and the evolution of ideas.

The Builders Collective

Builders Collective

We are building leaders to design a resilient society.

Our corporate structure is founded on a common understanding. We are all equal as individuals. We recognize that there is a creator who made and sustains this world and gives us life and the ability to create. We have been given the freedom to choose how we engage with the world: the universe, our galaxy, and this tiny planet we call home, the water and sky, the land and plants, the lights in the sky that serve as signs to mark seasons, days and years, the fish and creatures that inhabit the waters, the birds of the air and all the animals that live on this earth, and the group of human beings who live on this earth and all share a common ancestry and a common destiny. We are a family of people who have each been given a mind, a heart, and a body and the capacity to do good or to do evil.

We grow up recognizing our dependence on those who help us grow so we can each become independent and responsible for our own well-being, and to discover the interdependence that is required to provide and sustain the quality of life of every living thing on this planet.

Because of the obvious limits on energy, matter and time, we must be wise stewards of the resources that have been entrusted to our care. We endeavour to work, to play and to live on this earth with love and respect for our creator, ourselves, our family, our community and our world.

Note: We also understand that some people may not agree with these ideas, but feel free to join us anyway. That will not alter the fact that we are of the same family and that everyone is owed the same love and respect.

P.S. We may be wrong about all of this, and we freely admit that we may be wrong now and have certainly been wrong in the past about what we have thought and done. We sincerely desire to make up for any mistakes we have made or will make. We welcome civil discussions about other ideas, but unless someone can convince us otherwise, we are doing our best to base our thoughts and actions on these beliefs and principles.
