Hi Friend,

Sometimes in the midst of all the hectic, day-to-day swell of appointments, notifications, and endless, unnecessary meetings, a moment of beauty presents itself. But more often, we must make a conscious choice to seek out beauty: going out of our way to walk down a beautiful street, deciding to duck into that little park, or curating a moment at home. Every story this week is about people who made the choice to seek out beauty in the face of the alternative. It’s a lesson to embrace as the vacations wind down and days begin to cool. We always have the choice.

2. Restoring Beauty

There’s something incredibly mediative about watching someone meticulously restore a work of art. The precision and artistry combine to create a process that is beautiful in and of itself. This video is simple — just a man restoring a painting, but it’s well worth the watch to see how beauty can be restored.

3. The Abandoned Architecture of Best

What was emerged was distinctive, shocking, and fresh. I have to say — I wish more chains would take a cue from the bold thinking of Best stores.
