There’s not enough of us on Medium.

I started Thrifty Backpacker after traveling solo for a year in 2019 — probably one of the most incredible, most eye-opening experiences ever.
And just like that series you watch on Netflix, the new diet you’re on, the new sport you’re trying, the urge to tell everyone about it comes bubbling up until it’s all you’re talking about.
My hunch is that we do this because we loved our experience, but it was an independent one — we’re social creatures, and we crave a shared experience. We want and need other people to experience this with us; it’s too damn good not to share.
While traveling, I realized that it’s not some mythical experience out of reach to those who don’t have money or time. I realized that it was very much attainable and that people could do it on a dime, hell, even for free.
All they needed was the info and the gentle push.
I wrote my first ultimate guide covering all the basics of cheap travel, and then I kept writing.
Unfortunately, covid hit, and traveling was off the cards for a long time — but now, we’re on our way to some normalcy, and people need that sweet, sweet travel…
