The 2015 Skoda Fabia is set to debut at the Paris Motor show later this year in October though Skoda is steadily releasing more information about the hatchback in the run up to the debut.

The new interior have gained space in terms of length (up 8mm), front elbow room (up 21mm) and rear elbow room (up by 2mm) despite being shorter by 8mm compared to the current model. Boot capacity has increased by 15 litres and at 330 litres, claims to be best-in-class. Loading is easier now thanks to the low loading sill.

Debuting in the hatch is MirrorLink technology — a Skoda first. It allows smartphone apps to be displayed directly on the screen of the infotainment system while connected to your smartphone. Activate MirrorLink mode on the radio and MirrorLink-certified apps are mirrored on the infotainment system’s display. Another function is SmartGate which allows transfer of certain vehicle data such as fuel consumption, average speed, journey costs to specific applications on a smartphone with data transfer via WiFi. The importance given to the cars infotainment system and smartphone integration can be seen in the placement of a new multimedia device cradle in the centre console.

The new Fabia offers space for up to seven bottles — one bottle in each of the front and rear doors, the glove compartment and two bottles in the centre console. The hat shelf can also serve as horizontal partition or be stored vertically behind the rear seats. In addition, there is an optional flexible storage compartment for the boot. The dashboard borrows bits and pieces from the Octavia, which is a good thing.

The interiors have clean lines and going by previous versions, high quality bits are expected.
