Annual sales figures of the three German luxury brands are closely watched by the automobile industry at the beginning of every year. Mercedes-Benz India has posted sales of 10,201 units in 2014, pointing to a growth of 13 per cent overall. Not to be outdone, Audi India have announced sales figures of 10,851 units. Audi became the first luxury brand to cross 10,000 units in a calendar year, as well as financial year in India in the year 2013 and 2014 shows that the momentum continues with even higher sales.

Unlike the surprisingly weak festive season for most other manufacturers, Audi India enjoyed good sales in the last quarter (October to December 2014) with 3044 units sold, registering 17 percent growth from October to December 2013. Audi kick-started their 2014 plan with the launch of the RS 7 Sportback in January 2014. It was followed by new Audi A8 L in May 2014 and the Audi A3 Sedan in August 2014. As part of their expansion, the company also opened new showrooms in Udaipur, Visakhapatnam, Nashik and Kozhikode and have inaugurated a pre-owned luxury car showroom, “Audi Approved: plus” in Gurgaon.

Commenting upon the achievement, Joe King, Head, Audi India said “Audi continues to be the undisputed No.1 in the luxury car market and has remained the preferred choice of luxury mobility for car enthusiasts in India. The sheer acceptance of our brand in this country is tremendous… Audi offers the widest range of products across the spectrum that makes luxury accessible to every Indian.”

Even though the industry is still struggling with sluggish sales in the country, the luxury segment has shown an upward shift over the past couple of years. This has resulted in strong sales figures for Audi India as well as Mercedes-Benz India. With this announcement from two of the three big German luxury marques, all eyes are now on BMW India, whose sales results are yet to be announced.
