Austrian firm Johammer unveils electric motorcycles
Automotive manufacturers display their most cutting edge and zany concepts at motor shows. Little known Austrian manufacturer Johammer showcased two electric motorcycles, the J1.150 and the J1.200 (named after their range) at the Linz Motorcycle Show in February.
The styling is is‘snail-like’ due to the body and the rear-view mirror. The robotic, futuristic headlamps exude a Wall-E-like look.
The electric motorcycles are built on an aluminium frame, with all the electric gear and controls integrated in the back wheel. Unlike convention set-ups, they have a hub centre steering and suspension. The bikes are devoid of any levers near the feet with all-the instrumentation on or around the handlebar.
The instrumentation is futuristic. The speedometer and the battery charge are digitally displayed on the 2.4-inch rear-view mirrors!

The J1.150 is powered by an 8.3kWh battery, has a range of 150km and can reach an electronically limited speed of 120kmph. The J1.200 has a 200km range, is powered by a 12.7kWh battery and has the same top speed. Both variants can be charged to 80 per cent in two-and-half to three hours.
