Bajaj reveals its new motorcycle “V”
Just about a week ago, Bajaj Auto teased its new motorcycle, the “V” with possibly the most out-of-the-box marketing campaign in recent history. The bike was to have metal from the storied INS Vikrant, India’s first aircraft carrier. As promised, the Bajaj V was showcased yesterday and as we saw in the teaser YouTube video, it is indeed a retro-ish take on a commuter motorcycle. As expected, the Bajaj V is a 150cc bike with 4-stroke, single cylinder air-cooled DTS-i engine which produces 12hp of power and 13Nm of torque.
The fuel tank of the Bajaj V is the specific part that contains the metal from the INS Vikrant and holds 13l. Bajaj has clearly made an effort to make the bike interesting in other ways as well. There’s a beefy-looking 16” 120 section rear wheel, while the front fork is 33mm — the largest in the segment. Bajaj claims that its 55/60W trapezoidal headlamp is 60% brighter than other bikes too. The rear seat can be detached, making this accommodation to sportiness a bit less impractical than, say, a Splendor Pro Classic. We have to hand it to Bajaj; the end result is pleasing and if we know them well enough, pricing will be spot-on as well.
The V comes in two colours: Ebony Black and Pearl White and will be launched sometime in March.
