Bentley’s luxury SUV will be called the Bentayga! Yes, we have no clue what the name means or is meant to signify though a quick search oin Google explains that name is taken from Roque Bentayga, a 4642-foot (1415m) mountain peak on Spain’s Grand Canary Island. Wolfgang Dürheimer, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, comments, “Bentayga is a name that reflects what we know our SUV will do better than any other car in the world — combine the best automotive luxury with outstanding performance to take the Bentley experience to new environments.”

The new Bentley Bentayga is scheduled to break cover later in 2015, and go on sale in 2016. The British marque’s teaser campaign is in full swing, hinting at bits and pieces of the SUV. The latest teaser video shows the Bentayga testing in hot weather, somewhere in the Middle-East, probably. The new picture makes it clear the fenders will sport B-shaped vents.

It is pretty evident that the new crossover is the production version of the controversial EXP 9 F, first shown to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The concept got a lot of grief over the styling soon after it was unveiled, especially from Bentley devotees. Though in the latest development, the front facia looks typical Bentley, with a design similar to that of the Continental GT and Flying Spur. Like most Bentleys, the large rectangular-rish grille takes the prime spot at the front. The large single round headlamp unit shown on the EXP 9 F concept has given way to twin headlamps, in typical Bentley fashion. The previous teaser video also makes it clear that the SUV will sport roof rails, and a stylish tailgate with a sloping rear window. On the inside, the video explains that numero uno quality hand stitched leather upholstery can be expected. Though the technical details are under wraps, industry reports suggest that the model will ride on the MLB Evo platform, and is expected to be offered with a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8, and a 6.0-litre W12 engine.
