Carzonrent India Pvt. Ltd (CIPL), a leading car rental entity in India, has acquired 120 units of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class cars making is arguably the single largest corporate fleet deal in the country. The Delhi-based company spent over Rs 40 crore for 120 units of the C-Class which will increase their luxury fleet size to 800 cars. The deal is part of the firm’s expansion startegy, investing Rs 100 crores in 2014–15 to strengthen its luxury car fleet. Carzonrent has a presence across 39 cities and over a 100 locations in the country. The company is planning to expand its fleet size to 30,000 cars by 2017. Rajiv Vij, Managing Director, Carzonrent, was present for the formal handover of the compact luxury sedans from Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.

The C-Class sedan has sold particularly well across the globe, marking a notch in Mercedes’ belt. Carzonrent’s choice of the C 220 CDI is quite logical. The C 220 CDI is powered by an in-line four-cylinder 2143cc diesel engine that develops 170bhp and 400Nm of torque, and is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

Speaking on the occasion Eberhard Kern said, “Carzonrent’s preference for Mercedes-Benz cars for its exclusive clientele resonates the trust in the Mercedes-Benz brand, which entails safety, reliability, competitive cost of ownership and unmatched residual values that the products offer. We are glad to witness the increasing growth of these customer groups who lead a global lifestyle, are widely travelled, have a taste of luxury and are evolved in their preference.”

Mercedes-Benz bagged a bulk order in 2010, creating a record for the largest single transaction for 150 Mercedes-Benz cars worth Rs 65 crore, in Aurangabad. The group of businessmen from Aurangabad managed to get a hefty 20 per cent discount from the German car maker for the 13 units of S-Class, 74 E-Class, 39 C-Class, 6 GL-Class and 18 units of the M-Class. The city also made headlines later with the booking of 101 cars from BMW which included 50–60 units of the 3 Series, 15 units of the 5 Series, 10 X5s and three X6s.
