We had reported earlier, that a Romanian oil and gas company, the OMV Petrom Group, would be using a Duster Pickup that is based on the Duster 4x4 (AWD). This version isn’t intended for sale and is only meant to help OMV Petrom to monitor and maintain its 9,000 wells in the country.

It is undeniable that the Duster Pickup is a niche, yet desirable proposition and Dacia (and parent company Renault) have taken the initiative by showcasing the Duster Oroch at the 28th Sao Paulo Motor Show. Designed by Renault’s Latin American design studio, the Duster Oroch is definitely a concept with much larger 18-inch alloys, red accents, satin-white finish, panoramic glass roof, and an abundance of kite-surfing boards (uping the lifestyle quotient). Unlike the OMV Petrom model, the Duster Oroch sports a four-door design with a smaller loading deck.

Expected to power the concept, is the same 108bhp and 248Nm 1.5 dCi diesel motor that we get on the Duster AWD.

“The Renault Duster Oroch show car boasts the energetic, robust stance that appeals to customers. It’s the work of our Sao Paulo design centre and packs an emotional punch which is characteristic of design in Latin America,” Renault design boss Laurens van den Acker said in a statement. “While it takes its inspiration from the Duster, itself a robust vehicle with an assertive personality, our local design team has delivered a fresh interpretation of the model in the form of this show car.”
