The Korean brand is celebrating a good month seeing as sales for their GT 250 R and Aquila 250 reached 375 units during July-August, 2014, a growth of over 100 per cent compared to the previous year. The sales of these 250cc motorcycles (brought to India via the CKD route) have made DSK Hyosung the market leader in the imported 250cc segment.

Hyosung GT 250 R

Launched in April, the new GT 250 R is priced at Rs. 2.76 lakh ex-showroom Pune, and offers a decent amount of bang for your buck. Equipped with features borrowed from its larger sibling, the GT 650 R, like up-side down front forks, twin disc brakes upfront, and progressive linkage mono-shock suspension at the rear. The 188kg GT 250 R is powered by a 250cc oil-cooled, V-twin motor developing 27.6bhp at 10,000rpm and 22.07Nm of torque at 8000rpm.

Hyosung’s Aquila 250 is a capable cruiser that has been endowed with a 249cc V-twin, oil-cooled engine putting out 26.2bhp at 9500rpm and 20.6Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm. To say that the chrome levels on this Rs 2.65 lakh cruiser is eye-catching is a serious understatement.

Sharing his thoughts on the strong performance, Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman DSK Hyosung said, “Growth in terms of sales has been phenomenal for the previous quarter. We have witnessed around 80–90% year-on-year growth this year when compared to the same period last year. The 250cc segment has always been the fastest selling segment for DSK Hyosung, this year it has been the game changer with new launches coupled with evolving customer buying patterns and organic growth in metros as well as tier II & II cities, and overall positive sentiment reflected within the economy. In the next couple of months, we are aiming to achieve a sales target of 300 bikes per month and are quite confident of accomplishing the same.”
