The Italian motorcycle marque from Bologna is taking the mid-sized bike battle seriously and has launched the Monster 821. Ducati recently revised the Hypermotard with the 821cc Testastretta 11° engine and the same motor makes it to the newest Monster. The engine develops 112bhp and 89.4Nm of torque which is ample against its competitors in the form of the Triumph Street Triple, Kawasaki Z800, MV Agusta Brutale and the Yamaha MT-09. Nestled inside a trellis frame, the bike weighs in at 179.5kg.

Ducati haven’t offered a single-sided swingarm as it is with other lower-specced Monsters in its line-up. Instead, the Monster 821 gets a conventional swingarm but is otherwise loaded with features like an eight-way adjustable traction control system, three-level ABS and a three-level riding mode system. The Monster 821 retains the silhouette of the 1200S, including its twin end-cans on the right side.

The Monster brand name has been around for more than two decades and retains the essence of explosive performance. They now boast of a range of capacities from the Monster 695 to the beastly Monster 1200S. The Monster 821 will be available in European markets from July 2014 onward, and will be available in Red, White and a ‘Dark’ option.
