Harley-Davidson unveils 2015 Road Glide
The 2014 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, held in South Dakota, U.S.A., saw iconic American motorcycle maker, Harley-Davidson, bring back a classic tourer from their line-up, the Road Glide and the Road Glide Special. A few spy shots had been circulating the web but with its unveil on August 1 at Sturgis, we can see the amount Project Rushmore (which brought the made-for-India Street 750) has influenced the 2015 Road Glide.
The most striking feature of the Road Glide is the massive cowl that Harley claims has been designed in the wind tunnel and significantly reduces head buffeting at speeds. The twin LED headlamps completes the aggressive facia recalling some of the rebellious nature of its predecessor. The Road Glide and the Road Glide Special are both powered by a 1690cc, V-twin, fuel-injected, air-cooled motor mated to a six-speed gearbox. The chrome-finished twin exhausts at the rear do belt out that distinctive Harley sound (video below).
The Road Glide and its Special sibling, have a decent sized features list including a fairing-mounted 4.3-inch colour screen Boom!™ Box 4.3 infotainment system, (the Special gets the premium Boom! Box 6.5GT touchscreen infotainment system), one-touch hard saddlebags, cruise control, new clocks, adjustable air-ride rear suspension and new hand controls. The Special also gets GPS navigation, Reflex™ Linked Brakes with ABS and paint strips on the inner side of the fairing to differentiate it from its slightly less expensive brethren.
While deliveries of this tourer will begin in the U.S. on August 24, the American manufacturer hasn’t intimated when the 2015 Road Glide or the Road Glide Special will come to India.
