Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) has announced that it will recall 1040 units of its Brio hatchback, 1235 units of the Amaze, and 63 units of the CR-V, manufactured between September 2011 and July 2014, to carry out the preventive replacement of the driver side airbag inflator. The recall is a part of the Japanese manufacturers global recall regarding a possible incorrect assembly of the baffle plate in the airbag inflator.

While no reports of the airbag failing have been reported in India, Honda is carrying out the replacement of the part as a preventive measure. However, in some cases, the incorrect assembly of the baffle plate does cause the pressure within the inflator to rise excessively when the airbag deploys during an accident which can cause damage to the container.
