The most powerful Jaguar yet, the F-type Project 7, made its track debut after the iconic D-type won the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans Classic. The newest and fastest Jag was showcased just the previous week at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The D-type, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, was driven by Gary Pearson and journalist Chris Harris and took victory in Grid 3 for cars made between 1957–1961.

The Jaguar D-type race car was launched way back in 1954, won at Le Mans three times and is the inspiration behind the development of the F-type Project 7. The hottest Jag yet and the very first D-type ever built alongside it, completed a couple of demo laps around the Le Mans circuit with several examples of the new F-type R Coupé in tow.

The Project 7 is quite a leap over the F-type R as its tweaked 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol engine develops 567bhp and 680Nm of peak twisting force pushing this track-spec limited edition supercar to 100kmph in just 3.9 seconds and an electronically limited top whack of 300kmph. Jaguar’s Special Operations branch has cut weight down by 80kg, offers carbon ceramic brakes, torque vectoring by braking and race-inspired seats.

Seeing as the F-type is sold in India and the fact at least one of the limited 250 units of the Project 7 will also be sold in Brazil, it is possible, if improbable that we will see one in India, running rounds around the BIC. We are keeping our fingers crossed.
