Jaguar India has launched the locally manufactured XJ 3.0-litre diesel making it the third vehicle after the XF and the Freelander 2 coming out of British manufacturer’s Pune facility. Pricing for the made-in-India XJ 3.0 diesel starts at Rs 92.1 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai, pre octroi) and the car will be sold in Premium Luxury and Portfolio trims. This is a significant price drop as the XJ 3.0 diesel was previously priced at Rs 1.30 crore when sold as a CBU. The price cut should see the XJ challenge the likes of German luxury sedans like the Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which is the newest and most expensive of the lot.

“We are delighted to introduce the flagship of the Jaguar brand, the epitome of extraordinary luxury, the XJ as locally manufactured, at an extremely competitive price point in the luxury saloon segment in India. The new 2014 XJ with new innovative features is bound to have an enhanced appeal for the discerning and successful individuals with a refined taste for elegant British style, luxury, design and sophistication,” said Rohit Suri, Vice President, Jaguar Land Rover, India.

Jaguar has also equipped the XJ 3.0 diesel with the rear seat comfort pack that has three different massage functions, a feature that was not available on the previous model. Apart from the updated 3.0 diesel engine, Jaguar will also sell the XJ with its 2.0-litre petrol engine (that also powers the recently launched XF 2.0 petrol), totaling four variants that customers can choose from. The 3.0-litre petrol and the 5.0-litre supercharged petrol will not sold henceforth.
