Both bikes remain the same mechanically with the ZX-10R being powered by a 998cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line four cylinder engine pushing out 197bhp and 112Nm of torque. Cycle parts include Ohlins-Kawasaki electronic steering damper, three-spoke cast aluminium wheels, S-KTRC — Kawasaki’s traction control system, ABS, power mode selector, slipper clutch, titanium exhaust and adjustable footpegs. The Ninja ZX-6R, also known simply as the 636, is powered by a 636cc, DOHC, in-line four cylinder engine developing 131bhp and 52Nm of torque, and shares all the electronics as its elder sibling albeit missing out on the Ohlins and makes do with 41mm Showa front forks.

In the past 30 years the Ninja brand name has carved a niche for itself, winning many accolades in the racing arena. One of its most recent achievements includes Tom Sykes’ first World Superbike Championship. Kawasaki hasn’t launched the Ninja ZX-6R in India, although the ZX-10R is available at a price of Rs 15.7 lakh (ex-showroom Pune) and Kawasaki may bring the special edition to India next year.
