When Kawasaki showcased its high tech Ninja H2 and the absolute bonkers 297bhp track-only Ninja H2R, speculation was rife whether the hyperbike will make it to India. And now here it is, at a not so inconsiderate price of Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This is certainly a good deal considering that it undercuts its European counterparts, like the BMW S 1000 RR and Ducati’s 1299 Panigale, despite offering technology above the realm of the two.

The litre-class Kawasaki is a definite game changer when it comes to pushing boundaries. At a time when other bike makers were grappling with breaching the 200PS (197bhp) mark, the Ninja H2R was the first to break into the 300PS club. While the road going H2 admittedly makes 197bhp at 11,000rpm (207bhp with ram air), it comes with a supercharger developed in conjunction with Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ Aerospace department that helps boost the ZX-10R derived 998cc engine helping it rev faster and more importantly, make 135.5Nm of peak torque at 10,500rpm, which is among the highest outputs in the current crop of litre class bikes.

It looks hyper cool as well. The trellis frame chassis extends to a single sided swingarm which keeps weight at a modest 238kg. The bike is painted in a mirror coated Black paint that lends it a unique finish.

Commenting on the launch, Yoshitaka Tamura, Managing Director, India Kawasaki Motors said, “We, Kawasaki have pursued new heights in technology, originality and innovation. This Ninja H2 represents our intense spirit put not only for this model, but also for all existing models. I’m sure that this Ninja H2 would further enhance brand image of entire Kawasaki.”

Emblem

The Kawasaki River Mark is a long-time symbol of the KHI Group, dating back to the 1870s and is used on rare and limited products with historical significance. The Ninja H2 is one bike that uses the symbol with special permission. This symbol signifies how important the this litre-class motorcycle for Kawasaki.
