‘Entry-level’ and ‘supercar’ may be a contradiction in terms, but coming from Swedish hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg, everything’s relative. Christian Von Koenigsegg has revealed that his eponymous company is working on a supercar that will slot in below the Agera. Considering it sells the Agera for Rs 7.88 crore ($1.3 million), the Agera S for Rs 9.1 crore ($ 1.5 million) and the Agera R for Rs 9.7 crore ($ 1.6 million), Koenigsegg could price the upcoming car to compete with the 911 or Aventador and still be ‘entry-level’. The Swedish marque has recently announced that their berserk One:1 has completely sold-out in spite the Rs 15.2 crore price tag. Named for having a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio (1340bhp powering a 1340kg body) the hypercar was showcased just last month at the Geneva Motor Show.

The entry-level model will probably sport the same 5.5-litre V8 engine borrowed from the Agera, though in a lower state of tune mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Although this V8 engine also powers the One:1 and the car will share the Agera’s underpinnings, don’t expect to get 3D-printed titanium parts.

Koenigsegg is looking to boost sales and expand in the U.S.A. by setting up a New York-based dealership. The recent release of the movie version of “Need for Speed”, has helped publicize the Swedish brand even though the ‘Ageras’ used in the movie were actually disguised Saleen S7s.
