Adding to its already large range of Adventure motorcycles (the 1190, 1190 R, and the recently unveiled 1290 Super Adventure), KTM has unveiled the new 1050 Adventure. Carrying over styling and underpinnings from its larger siblings, the 1050 Adventure is powered by a 1050cc v-twin motor that pumps out 95bhp. The Austrian bike manufacturer asserts that even though the 1050 Adventure loses out on power and displacement compared to its brothers, it “has lost neither its refinement nor its fizzy punch thanks to elaborate adaptations.”

Weighing in at 212kg, the 1050 should be an able performer, while delivering decent fuel efficiency. Like its stable mates, the newest Adventure comes with ABS, ride-by-wire throttle and traction control. Braking duties are carried out by Brembo discs in the front and rear and the suspension is WP made.

The main reason that KTM will launch the 1050 Adventure, is to entice first time adventure tourer buyers as an optional power restriction kit (bringing power down to 48bhp) means that beginners can use it without feeling overwhelmed.

At the India launch of the RC series, Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM AG, indicated that the 1050 Adventure could come to India sometime next year. It’ll go up against the likes of the Triumph Tiger, and Suzuki’s V-Strom, though given Bajaj/KTM’s penchant for incredible pricing, it could undercut its rivals by a significant margin. We’re excited, are you?
