This is news to make every petrolhead a little weak in the knees. Lamborghini’s latest masterpiece, the successor to the Italian supercar maker’s best selling Gallardo, the Huracán has launched in India priced at Rs 3.43 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Lamborghini India head, Pavan Shetty has confirmed that there are already 100 Lamborghini’s on Indian roads coming from dealers in three cities, New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore.

There are quite a few people that laugh at the Huracán sharing its chassis with the Audi R8, but the alumnium-carbon hybrid chassis reduces weight by 10 per cent and increases the stiffness by 50 per cent compared to the Gallardo. To go with the able chassis, the Huracán is powered by the familiar 5.2-litre V10 that powered both the R8 and Gallardo, albeit with a raft of modifications to its top end and exhaust system. The engine now produces 602bhp at 8250rpm and 560Nm of peak torque at 6500rpm, mated to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission (Lamborghini Doppia Frizione, LDF), enabling this 1442kg supercar to accelerate from a stand still to 100kmph in just 3.2 seconds, to 200kmph in 9.9 seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 320kmph. For those who have a mind for it, the engine features start-stop technology improving fuel efficiency by 11 per cent to a claimed 8kmpl.

Putting down all that power and handling with grace and poise is what Lambos are known for, which is why the Huracán’s double wishbones, electronic dampers, and anti-roll bars have been enahnced with ANIMA, Italian for soul. The Adaptive Network Intelligent Management system (ANIMA) alters the responses of the dampers, engine mapping, steering, gearbox, four-wheel drive and traction control via a button on the steering.

The inside Huracán exudes the Lambo charm with supportive bucket seats, fine Nappa and Alcantara leather upholstery, and a new 12.3-inch digital TFT screen.
