The Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team has enjoyed stellar success in the 2014 season, with their driver Lewis Hamilton winning the driver’s championship, followed by team-mate, Nico Rosberg. The Silver Arrows team bagged constructer’s championship well before the season ended at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The celebrations are in full swing in Germany as this has been the best result so far since Mercedes-Benz returned to F1 as a factory team in 2010, following its purchase by Brawn GP. The German marque is celebrating its triumph with two special models of the SL 63 AMG, manufactured with inputs from Hamilton and Rosberg, christened as the “World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition”.

Mercedes-AMG SL 63 World Championship 2014 Collector’s Edition,

Lewis Hamilton chose to drape the SL 63 AMG in the ever chic, black shade. The special paint finish, designated ‘designo night black magno’, can be found on detachable body parts such as the exterior mirrors, door handles, and rims. The black colour is ideally complimented by the gold-coloured lettering, and the fins and stripes on the rear bumper, while the tailpipe is in chromed black. The black-gold combo works in the interiors as well, with gold-coloured stitching on black nappa leather seats. The instrument panel and centre console are also covered in ‘black designo’ nappa leather, with the trims of gold.

Contrasting Hamilton’s special SL 63 AMG, Rosberg’s special edition is finished in ‘designo cashmere white magno’. The door handles, wheels, lettering, fins, inserts on the front bumper, the housing of the DRLs, window trim, and the lip spoiler on the boot lid, have all been draped in ‘designo himalayas grey’. The white car also carries the same chromed black tailpipe as Hamilton’s edition, though the ‘designo style’ leather in titanium grey sets the mood in the interiors. The leather decorates the seats, the steering wheel, the door beltlines, the soft-top cover, and also the upper part of the instrument panel. The lower part of the instrument panel, the centre console, and the door panels, are finished in deep white nappa leather, while the trim parts are finished in the same shade as the body.

Further extras include a Nico Rosberg or Lewis Hamilton Edition IWC Ingenieur chronograph watch, an F1 book signed by both drivers, and an invitation to the opening race of the 2015 season, in Melbourne.

Both the cars are powered by the AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine, which has an output of 577bhp and 900Nm of torque, though with a raised top speed of 300kmph. The cars are packed with all sorts of knick-knacks such as AMG Driver’s package, AMG sports suspension, AIRSCARF, the Bang & Olufsen BeoSound AMG sound system, a panoramic vario-roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL, and AMG sports seats.
