Mahindra launches updated Thar at Rs 8.03 lac

To the clientele that the Mahindra Thar targets, the vehicle practically sells itself. A soft top, 4x4 and that classic jeep shape is usually enough, even though the experience on the inside was usually a far cry from a modern car. That’s changed somewhat, with Mahindra giving the Thar a going-over inside the cabin.

The “new” Thar CRDe retains the basic platform and engine — a 2500cc diesel mill and a gearbox with 4WD high and low ratios available. Approach and departure angles remain formidable at 44 and 27 degrees respectively and ground clearance is at 200mm. External changes include new headlamps, bumpers, sidesteps, wheelarches and canopy. The real story is on the inside. The Thar now gets re-designed AC vents, new trim for the steering wheel and doors, cup holders, wider seats, a 12V charging point, a lockable glove box and space for a 2DIN entertainment system.

The new Mahindra Thar CRDe starts at Rs 8.03 lac ex-Nasik and is available only in select Mahindra showrooms.
