Maruti Suzuki launches Alto K10 at Rs 3.06 lakh
Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Alto K10 today with five variants, and prices starting at Rs 3.06 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The new Alto K10 now gets an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) version which is priced at Rs 3.8 lakh, making it the cheapest automatic car available in the country.
The new Alto K10 features changes in the exterior, interior, and in the mechanical department. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine (codenamed K-Next) has been reworked to make it smoother and peppier, and now churns out 67bhp of power and 90Nm of torque. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT transmission. The fuel efficiency has been improved by 15 per cent and now stands at 24.07kmpl, one of the highest the country.
The basic design of the new Alto K10 is borrowed from the Alto 800, quite evident in side profile. The Alto K10 features large headlamps, while the bumper and bonnet have been redesigned to accommodate the changes at front. The tail-lamps are slightly redesigned carrying forward the look of the original Alto 800. Overall the external changes impart a fresh look to the volume driver in Maruti Suzuki’s stable. The interior has been spruced up and the centre console gets a piano black finish with a new music system, while the quality of the interiors and the dash look a lot more upmarket.
On the pricing front, the new Alto K10 has a clear advantage over its main rival, the Hyundai Eon. Prices for the Eon 1.0 Kappa start at Rs 3.87 lakh, and goes up to 4.03 lakh ex-showoom, Delhi — a difference of nearly 80,000 rupees compared to the Alto K10. Maruti Suzuki has the added advantage of an AMT version which is expected to draw in more customers.
