Mercedes-AMG GT S launched in India for Rs 2.40cr
With a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 3.8 seconds, the quickest AMG in India, the AMG GT S is here. The ‘World Performance Car of the Year 2015’ award winner Mercedes-AMG GT S was launched earlier today in Delhi. It’s powered by a hand-built (of course) AMG 4.0-litre V8 engine which produces 510hp and 650 Nm. Top speed is 310 km/h, so Mumbai-Pune should come up in under a half hour, or GT S-jail almost immediately.
Unlike many (most?) other AMG cars that share a common engine, this one is a particular technological accomplishment. The engine weighs just 209kg dry, and is the first sports car engine with internally installed turbochargers (“hot inner V”, turbos between cylinder banks).
With the low-drawn bonnet, short cabin and rear overhang, the AMG GT S is the classic GT sports car. Embellishments include a front splitter in chrome, diamond radiator grille with pins in chrome, and a ventilation grille in high-gloss black. The interior is, expectedly, replete with AMG touches. There’s an AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather and the AMG instrument cluster with carbon-fibre-effect backplates, among more acres of Nappa leather across the AMG sport seats.
The AMG GT S includes 5 transmission modes: “C” (Comfort), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport Plus), I (Individual) and “RACE” mode. The sporty transmission modes “S” and “S+” of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission have been enhanced further for the Mercedes-AMG GT S.
The fully-customized AMG GT S is priced at INR 2.40 crore. The customization includes 7 exterior colour options, 4 alloy wheel design options, 3 seat belt colour options, 4 trim options and 6 upholstery options.
