Mercedes begins producing CLA and GLA in India

As promised, Mercedes continues its commitment to “Make in India”, announcing local production of the CLA compact sedan at its Chakan facility. All variants of the CLA except the loony CLA 45 AMG will be built at Chakan, including the diesel Style and Sport trims, and the petrol sport. Mercedes is also beginning local production of the GLA 200 Sport (petrol) compact SUV.

Mercedes claims India is the only location outside Europe with local production of the CLA and this should drop prices by between 1 to 2 lac depending on location. The new prices for the CLA range are:

CLA 200 CDI Style: Rs 30.70 lakh
Petrol CLA 200 Sport: Rs 32.90 lakh
CLA 200 CDI Sport: Rs 33.90 lakh
