Mercedes-Benz C-Class Edition C unveiled
Ten million is a big number, one that Mercedes-Benz is celebrating. Having sold ten million of the C-Class around the world (including 2.3 million units of the current fourth generation), the German manufacturer has launched the Edition C, a limited edition of the C-Class. Under the hood, the Edition C is essentially the same as the C220 CDI but gets an AMG body kit including redesigned front and rear bumpers, side skirts and larger 17-inch AMG alloys with a machine-finish and black accents. Additionally, the headlamps have been given a smoked treatment, apart from Edition C badges adorning the sides. As compared to the regular C-Class, the Edition C gets thicker, 245/40 R17 rubber on the rear wheels to accentuate the sporty stance.
Inside, the wooden inserts on the dashboard have been replaced by a silver finish to complement the special Alcantara seats and dark leather with contrasting blue stitching. The infotainment system comes with Navigation as standard. A four-cylinder 2143cc common-rail direct injection diesel powers the Edition C, producing 167bhp between 3000rpm and 4200rpm and an impressive 400Nm of torque from 1400–2800rpm. The engine is mated to a 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic gearbox. Like the standard C-Class, the 2.2-litre engine comes with start/stop to boost fuel efficiency. Limited edition to 500 units the Edition C has been priced at Rs 39.16 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
