Mercedes-Benz India launches SLK 55 AMG

Mercedes-Benz has launched its hot SLK 55 AMG in India, adding more ammo to its AMG line-up in the country.

The SLK 55 AMG is the high performance version of the hardtop SLK convertible, and is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 motor that delivers 416bhp at 6800rpm and 540Nm of torque at 4500rpm. The engine is mated to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC transmission that offers three driving modes. This roadster sprints to 100kmph in 4.6 seconds, going on to register an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.

External changes include an AMG body kit with front and rear aprons and side skirts and 18-inch AMG wheels. The SLK 55 also gets AMG’s handling kit which includes rear axle differential lock and high performance braking system. That apart, the car also gets a performance steering wheel with nappa leather/Alcantara inserts in the grip areas and AMG seats.

The SLK 55 AMG earned a coveted 5-star rating in the European NCAP tests and gets driver aids like Attention Assist to alert drowsy drivers, Parktronic aids, Pre Safe and Adaptive Brakes with ABS and ASR. The SLK 55 AMG is priced at Rs 1.26 crore ex-showroom Delhi.
