Mercedes-Benz opens dealership in Mohali
After the inauguration of state-of-art dealerships in Bhubaneswar, Raipur and Bhopal, Mercedes-Benz India inaugurated their Mohali dealership today making it the fourth showroom cum dealership out of 11 new outlets planned for 2014. The outlet, christened Panjab Motors, is spread over 55,000 square feet including the showroom and the workshop which features the ‘3S’ (sales, service and spares) facility. The sheer size makes it the largest dealership of the manufacturer in the state of Punjab, which incidentally contributes 7 per cent of total national sales of Mercedes-Benz. Inaugurated by Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India and Raj Naresh Singh, MD of Panjab Motors, the facility has been established with an investment of Rs. 16 crore. The dealership includes a a customer lounge, a plush cafe (named Cafe Mercedes) and still has enough space left over for 11 cars to be on display. The workshop consists of 15 bays that can service up to 560 cars a month and will allow for round the clock support. With the establishment of the new dealership in Mohali, Mercedes-Benz India has increased their network in the country to 36 cities with 64 outlets.

Along with the inauguration of the dealership Mercedes-Benz commenced the ‘Celebrate Excellence campaign’ to celebrate the accolade of being ‘India’s Most Awarded Luxury Car Brand’. A convoy of a gold foiled award winning vehicles comprising the A-Class, B-Class, E-Class and GL-Class will be visiting 23 cities across India during the next 45 days as part of the campaign. In Punjab, the convoy will also be visiting Karnal, Chandigarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar to celebrate the excellence of the brand.
The brand had stellar success in last year with the company selling 9003 units across India, a growth of 32 pert cent over the previous year. The Q1 report of the German marque suggests that the manufacturer is keeping the momentum going during this year with sales of 2554 units in the period between Jan-March 2014 against 2,009 units during the same period last year which translates to a 27 per cent growth.
