A sketch released by Mercedes-Benz showcases the design that its new BMW X4 competitor, the Concept GLC Coupe will follow. Scheduled to debut at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show later this month, the four-door crossover/SUV is ‘near production-standard’ and shares its looks with the recently unveiled GLE Coupe, albeit in a more compact avatar.

When Mercedes’ new SUV does goes on sale (expected sometime in 2017), the GLC Coupe is expected to share its powertrain with the current C-Class. While the standard turbo-petrol motors and the 2143cc diesel mill will be offered, an AMG-Sport version featuring the 362bhp 3-litre twin-turbo V6, and a range-topping AMG version may also be on the cards, as is a hybrid engine option.

There isn’t much information available as yet, but we can expect some more information and quite a crowd at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show later in April.
