Mercedes E 350 CDI priced at Rs 57.42 lakh
Adding to its E-Class line-up, Mercedes-Benz India has given us the more powerful E 350 CDI, priced at Rs 57.42 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Joining the ranks of the E 200, the E 250 CDI, and the range-topping E 63 AMG, the E 350 CDI is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine developing 261bhp and 620Nm of torque, mated to a seven-speed 7G-tronic (dual clutch) automatic gearbox. The more powerful E 350 CDI outmatches its smaller capacity diesel sibling by 0.9 seconds to 100kmph (6.6 seconds) and is electronically limited to 250kmph.

The design, inside and outside, hasn’t changed in the slightest though new elegant 17-inch multi-spoke alloys are on offer. The newest edition to the E-Class range also gets the same amount of bells and whistles like a panoramic sunroof, Intelligent Drive Technology, Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control with Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, pedestrian recognition, Cross Traffic Assistant, blind-spot warning, adaptive high-beam lights, a Harman-Kardon sound system, 360 camera, COMAND online, and automatic parking.
Costing about Rs 8 lakh more than the E 250 CDI, the pricing has been kept in check thanks to Mercedes-Benz local manufacturing at their Chakan plant near Pune. The German auto maker has admitted that the E-Class pulls the largest amount of volumes in terms of sales, which is why the E 350 CDI has been launched in the country. Major rivals that the luxury sedan will have to contend against include the Audi A6 3.0 TDI, BMW 530d M Sport, and the Jaguar XJ 3.0 V6 Diesel S, all of which fall into the same price bracket and offer similar performance.
