Mercedes-Benz India’s Year of Excellence has gone smashing for the German luxury brand with record sales figures. 2014 saw the company post sales of 10,201 units, pointing a growth of 13 per cent over sales for the year 2013.

The breaching of the sales record can be attributed to the manufacturer’s rapid expansion plans which included the launch of a whopping 10 models- its flagship S-Class, the E350 CDI, the new C-Class, ML-Class, GL-Class, GLA-Class, A-Class and the B-Class. 4 new AMG high performance models were also introduced including the CLA 45 AMG, GLA 45 AMG, ML 63 AMG, and the GL 63 AMG. The brand’s footprint also saw expansion during 2014 with 3 new AMG Performance Centres, the inauguration of 12 outlets for its pre-owned business ‘Mercedes-Benz Certified’, and added 14 new dealerships across the nation. This means that the German manufacturer has the densest network for any luxury car maker in India with 68 outlets in 37 cities.

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “We have recorded the highest ever sales in the history of Mercedes-Benz in India till date. This is a strong reaffirmation of the continued preference of our customers for the Three Pointed Star. With the ‘Year of Excellence’we brought excellence to our customers, who appreciated our efforts and helped us in accomplishing a sustained and profitable growth. We are satisfied that our customer oriented efforts have paid off well. With this second consecutive successful year, we are now more confident and focused on continuing our growth momentum in India, which we achieved amidst increasingly challenging market conditions.”
