Spy shots of Mercedes’ SLS AMG replacement could be found on the internet for the past 2 months. Now, the German manufacturer has finally teased the Porsche 911 rival with some interior images. The 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT (codenamed the C190) will be officially unveiled in the run up to the Paris Motor Show in October. Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, the Mercedes-AMG GT is the second car to roll out exclusively from AMG’s Affalterbach facility in Germany.

Based on the images, the inside recalls the sporty and aircraft-like interiors of the then futuristic SLS AMG. The most eye catching detail are the controls on the AMG Drive Unit, which are arranged like the cylinders on a V8 motor. Naturally, the AMG GT will be powered by a 500bhp plus V8 twin-turbo petrol engine delivering power to the rear wheels. The racy red and black two-tone finish and the flat-bottomed steering complete the visage. The aircraft-like image is enhanced by auxiliary switch gear placed above the interior lights.

It seems the co-founder Karl Benz’s name was dropped while naming this new supercar. Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH commented, “The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before.” Whether this new nomenclature sets a precedent for future supercars from the Merc-AMG stable remains unknown.
