If you want a premium vehicle, there’s a lot of action around the Rs 30 lac mark. BMW brand MINI continues to punch its weight in the game, and has announced the new Countryman in India today. The five-door starts at Rs 36,50,000 ex-showroom and is brought to India via the CBU route.

The new Countryman looks like a three-door went to the gym for a bit. There’s a bulging bonnet, a redesigned grille, more ground clearance and 17" alloys, adding a bit more visual weight to the car than the otherwise slammed look of the three-door. It’s only available with the 112hp/270Nm four cylinder turbodiesel engine, which was still entertaining the last time we had a go. Expect similar “go-kart-ness” with the new 6-speed Steptronic transmission, available with optional paddle shifters.

In related news, MINI has also dropped prices across their range in India. The cars are still brought in as CBUs and are available at MINI dealers cross Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Prices

MINI Cooper D 3 Door Rs 28,50,000
MINI Cooper D 5 Door Rs 31,90,000
MINI Cooper S 3 Door Rs 31,50,000
MINI Cooper Convertible Rs 33,90,000
MINI Cooper D Countryman Rs 36,50,000
