Honda has launched the new CBR 250R in the Indonesian market. The new quarter litre feature both cosmetic and mechanical changes in the 2014 edition. The baby Fireblade takes its styling cues from CBR 500R, unlike its predecessor who took after the VFR1200F sport-tourer’s silhouette. Featuring twin headlamps and a sharper windscreen, the new 250 will also come with a sleeker chrome-finished muffler.

Mechanically, the motorcycle will receive the same motor as the previous version, which has been fettled to increase power output. The liquid-cooled engine now produces an additional 2.95bhp which puts the power rating at 29bhp at 9000rpm. This is a relatively significant boost in the total power output of the new CBR250R. The new version gets a 6-speed manual transmission, new gear ratios that Honda claims, are more suited to the dynamics of the motorcycle.

The wheelbase has been scaled up to 1,378mm from 1,367mm, and the bike has shed 3kg, tipping the scale at 164kg. The brakes and the suspension remain identical, and the optional ABS package has been retained.

Launched in the Indonesian Market for 48.95 million Indonesian Rupiah equivalent to Rs.2.52 lakh, the ABS version will retail for 57.95 million Indonesian Rupiah or Rs 2.93 lakh. It remains to be seen whether the Indian market will receive the Euro-spec 300 or the updated 250R.
